    was appointed chair of the Department of Dermatology in the VCU School of Medicine. She joined the faculty of VCU's Department of Dermatology in January 2018 and has served as the interim department chair since June 2018.

    A $500,000 research award

    granted through the U.S. Department of Defense was bestowed to Michael McClure, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in VCU's College of Engineering, to explore how neurotization - the process of nerve transfer - could help patients regain use of severely damaged muscles.

    A $19.78 million grant

    from a partnership between the National Institutes of Health and the FDA Center for Tobacco Products launched a five-year project at VCU's Center for the Study of Tobacco Products focused on predicting the outcomes of government regulations on tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.

    A $50,000 Pauley Pilot Research Grant

    was awarded to Jordana Kron, M.D., associate professor in the VCU School of Medicine and a cardiologist at the VCU Health Pauley Heart Center, to investigate a new treatment protocol for cardiac sarcoidosis, an inflammatory condition that can lead to cardiac failure when it affects the heart.
